Upgrade Windows 2003 SP2 to R2

During an upgrade from Windows Server 2003 SP2 to R2 version I got the following error:
Setup cannot continue because the operating system edition is different from the setup edition.

The problem was generated because R2 would like to have a SP1 server.

To fix this problem
1) Copy the R2 files off the R2 CD2 and uncheck Read-Only
2) Browse to \CMPNENTS\R2\ and edit the file R2INTL.INF, change the R2SPLevel = 1 to R2SPLevel = 2

Believe it or not, we (University in Middle Georgia, USA) used your method as opposed to making a slipstreamed disc or any other method and it worked perfectly. Cudos yto you, Vittorio!

Thanks for the tip, Vittorio, your post helped us install R2 in our company. We've modified the file and burned the hole thing on a CD then installed R2. Cheers from France !!!
